Calhoun County Supervisors accepted a solid waste grant, declared an old truck surplus property, and approved travel expenses for board members to attend a conference next week on the Gulf Coast during a brief meeting Tuesday morning.

The Solid Waste Assistance grant from DEQ totals $11,473 and is received annually and is used as a supplement for Calhoun Solid Waste Director Earl Reese’s salary.

The board approved the request from Supervisor Gwin Longest to declare an old Chevrolet truck previously used by the Banner Fire Department surplus property so it could be advertised for bids.

The last order of business was approving travel expenses for any board members wanting to attend Three Rivers Planning and Development District Conference in Biloxi next week.

The next scheduled meeting of the board is May 4.
