Calhoun County Supervisors listened to budget proposals from county departments at Tuesday’s meeting in Pittsboro.

Earl Flemons with Calhoun County Solid Waste presented the board with quotes on a garbage truck for $41,000. Flemons said the truck will replace a 2011 Isuzu that has stayed in the shop too much. Flemons also presented the proposed budget for next fiscal year.
In other news, the board authorized advertisement for bridge repair on CR 177; approved annual bridge inspection for the county at cost of $32,000, which is paid for with federal funds; and approved a quote for $2,027 to replace 16 bulbs and four fixtures broken at county airport.
Supervisor Tony Morgan was reappointed to the Three Rivers Board of Directors for a five-year term.
Brent Thompson visited with supervisors at the meeting telling them he is their contact for U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly. The board stressed the need for federal funds for road and bridge repair and agreed to provide all needed information.
The board added a new county road off of CR 125 to the county road registry. The road, located in district two, is two-tenths of a mile long and has several houses on it.
