The Bruce Board of Aldermen unanimously approved the hiring of Steve Boland for Bruce Park at a recessed meeting Thursday night.
Boland, who currently works at Haworth, said the department he was working in at the office chair plant was recently sold to another plant in Michigan and his job would be coming to an end in a few weeks.
He will work primarily in the park, but Park Director Mark Ferguson said he will be available to assist other departments when needed.
In other Bruce Park news, Ferguson said fall softball, baseball and soccer are starting next week.
He expressed his appreciation to cable company MaxxSouth for installing a new sign at their office on Hwy. 32 providing direction to Bruce Park.
The board approved a $2,000 expenditure for a wood-fence enclosure behind the high school baseball field to allow park equipment to be stord more neatly.
"When we're really busy out there, it can be hard to keep things neat," Ferguson said. "This should make a big improvement to the appearance around that building."
