The Calhoun City board of aldermen approved the 2015-16 budget and hired two new police officers in a recessed meeting Tuesday night.
The proposed budget was approved for next fiscal year. The budget totals $2 million in the general fund and $1.4 million for the water department.
The board approved the hiring of Ezra Conner and Greg Sockwell as new police officers at the request of incoming Police Chief Tito Lopez.
The board also set a public hearing on the town's cable franchise renewal for Sept. 22 10 a.m.
They also accepted the resignation of Daniel Lee as a town maintenance worker.
