Barry Cannon makes the following statement to the voters of Calhoun County:
“I am Barry D. Cannon and I am seeking the office of Constable Post 2 Calhoun County. I am the son of Brenda Cannon and the late Charles Dewey Cannon of Calhoun City. My wife is Tegra Turner Cannon the daughter of Patricia Ruth Turner and the late Joe L. Turner of Banner. I am a member of Derma Baptist Church.
“I am a 1990 graduate of Calhoun City High School. I joined the Mississippi Army National Guard in 1996 where I currently serve as a Non-Commissioned Officer and Platoon Sargent. I have owned and operated a successful home improvement business since 2005. I have served over 19 years in the Mississippi Army National Guard to include humanitarian missions in Nicaragua, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I am a Proud Veteran with two tours to Iraq and one tour to Afghanistan. I have received numerous awards and medals to include two Bronze Stars and was recommended for a third. I have attended Non-Commissioned Officers Academies five times and completed over 200 hours of leadership and technical schools in the military. I am a certified Combat Life Saver and a certified Master Resiliency Trainer for my Unit.
“With my experiences and accomplishments during my military career, I have many attributes to apply toward being your next Constable. I believe being a good people person is a key characteristic for serving as Constable. A Constable needs to be active and involved in the community for the people to know that you are there for them. If elected Constable I plan to offer assistance when needed to the other law enforcement agencies in the county.
“I am a firm believer in team work, dedication and sacrifice to get the job done. I have served my Country and County over the past 19 years here on U.S. soil and around the world, as my military career is close to being completed, I feel that it is time for me to serve right here in Calhoun County.
“I ask that on November 3rd that you help me make a difference to move Calhoun County forward, vote Barry D. Cannon for Constable Post 2. Thank you!”
