The elections were part of reorganization of the board for the new year. They also named Reginal Baskin, of Bruce, board secretary and reappointed Paul Moore, Jr. as board attorney.

In other news, the board heard presentations from the county's new literacy coaches – Lindsey Hastings at Bruce, Katie Hill at Calhoun City and Jennifer Moore at Vardaman.

Superintendent Mike Moore said he hoped the new high speed internet would be connected to Bruce Schools within the next week.

"TDS at Calhoun City and Vardaman has put us off a little, but we're hoping to get that soon," Moore said. "You know you can't talk to TDS here in town, you have to talk to Atlanta, but we have confidence they are going to get it done."

Other items approved by the board:
*student transfer - Blake Seaver from Vardaman to Calhoun City.
*personnel - Beth Gillis hired as teacher replacing Althea Hubbard who resigned; Steven Newell hired as assistant band director; Theresa Huertas transferred into secretary bookkeeper position at BES.
*Set next meeting for Monday, Feb. 29.
