Two Calhoun Academy students recently served as pages in the Mississippi Senate.
Pages generally run errands for officials and Senate staff. Anna Claire Watkins, pictured with Lt. Governor Tate Reeves who sponsored her visit, is the daughter of Michael and Lisa Watkins of Calhoun City.
When asked about the week, she said, “The week I spent in Jackson as a page was a wonderful experience where I had the opportunity to learn and interact with our state’s leaders. I had the chance to witness exactly how things operate during the legislative session. It was truly an educational week where I also learned how to present myself in a professional manner.”
Aubrey Schmitz of Pittsboro is the son of Gary and Lisa Schmitz.
When asked about the week, Aubrey said, “Being a page at the state capital of Mississippi is a fantastic way to learn about your state’s form of legislative government.”
