Calhoun County voting precincts will be open Saturday, Feb. 13 for the Democratic caucus.
Rickey Cole, Chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party, issued the following statement regarding the quadrennial Democratic precinct caucuses.
“As the attention of the nation is focused upon the New Hampshire Primary, Democrats here in Mississippi are preparing for both a caucus and a primary of our own. In addition to our March 8 Presidential Preference Primary election, Democrats will gather at their county polling places around the state at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13 for our quadrennial Democratic Precinct Caucus meetings.
“At the precinct caucus, which is open to all Democratic residents of the precinct, participants will 1) elect Democratic leaders to represent the precinct at the March 12 county Democratic convention, 2) discuss and propose platform ideas on public policy issues to be considered for inclusion in the 2016 Democratic Platform and 3) organize support for the Democratic Party and Democratic candidates in the precinct.
“We encourage all interested Democrats to attend and participate in their Democratic Precinct Caucus at their county voting precinct at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13. Be a part of real grassroots democracy in action at your precinct.”
