Kenneth Langford hired as new ‘City wastewater operator

Kenneth Langford was hired as wasterwater operator effective April 1, 2016 at the Calhoun City town board meeting last night, and the contract of wastewater operator Sean Staggs will be terminated effective March 31.
calhoun city cmykThey discussed the possibility of leasing of hunting rights on city property on CR 301 (the old dump) and leasing Industrial Park grassland for hay, both for which bids would need to be advertised.

The aldermen voted to allow Calhoun Health Services to remove the unused and unsightly pump house on city property at their own expense. Also at the owner’s expense, they agreed for Billy Parker to widen/straighten a ditch in the alley of the old Sonic lot to the city lift station, under the supervision of an engineer.

In the sewer/street update Lee Burns reported they have “been patching as fast we can.”
Approval was given for Clerk Raenell Moore to attend a municipal workshop and Mayor J.R. Denton to attend North MS Mayors Assn. Spring Training Session at Lake Tiak O’Khata.
