Administrators and teaching assistants hired by school board

Personnel items occupied virtually all of the time of Monday’s school board meeting in Pittsboro.

Personnel actions that were approved included employment of administrators for next school year – Paula Maddox, Kim Poteete, Jean Ann Casey, Raven Hawkins, Jo Lynn Clanton, Jeff Patton, Dallas Gore, Michael Gillespie, Lisa Langford, Stacia Parker, Mike Ray, Dedee Lee, Porter Casey and Kyle Clark.

Erin Beth Earnest was hired as a reading readiness assistant replacing Theresa Huertas at BES. Alison Tyler was hired as part-time interventionist replacing Hope Tunnell who resigned.
Megan McCormick was hired as a teacher assistant replacing Carla Spencer. Sandee Tutor resigned as a teacher effective June 30.

Alison Tyler and Katherine Jones were both hired as substitute teachers. Tammy Inman resigned as a cafeteria worker. Trevor Smalley was hired as a bus driver replacing Nancy Barefield. Kenneth Langford was hired as maintenance supervisor.

Other items approved by the board:
•CCHS Band trip to Atlanta in July and Washington, D.C. next Spring Break.
•Canceled 16th section lease with Frank and Mary Burns. “We’ll put it back out for bid again,” Mike Moore said.
•Student transfer - John Peyton Rhyne from Houston to Calhoun.
•Set date of next meeting for Tuesday, March 29 due to school being out on March 28 for Easter.
