Calhoun Countians will go to the polls Tuesday, March 8 to vote in the party primary of their choice.
Voters will have to choose when voting whether they want to participate in the Republican or Democratic Primary.
The Democratic ballot features only the presidential race between Hillary Clinton, Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente, Martin O’Malley, Bernie Sanders and Willie Wilson.
The Republican ballot features the presidential primary between Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, Mike Huckabee, John R. Kasich, George Pataki, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum, and Donald J. Trump.
Bush, Christie, Fiorina, Graham, Huckabee, Pataki and Santorum have all suspended their campaigns after poor showings in early primaries, but all will still appear on the ballot.
The Republican ballot will also feature the congressional race between incumbent U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly and challenger Paul Clever.
In a pair of unofficial polls on The Journal’s Twitter (@CalhCoJournal) account – Donald Trump won on the Republican side with 40% of the vote, followed by Marco Rubio 26%, Ted Cruz 15% and 19% said none of those three.
Bernie Sanders won the CCJ’s Democratic poll with 74%, compared to 26% for Hillary Clinton.
