El Jefe Mexican restaurant in Pittsboro is scheduled to make history this Saturday, June 11.
This weekend will be the first time a Calhoun County restaurant has legally served alcohol.
The restaurant recently received its license to serve liquor and has been installing margarita machines this week in preparation for the weekend. Beer will not be sold as Pittsboro is only wet for liquor.
An expansion is also ongoing at the restaurant, located across Hwy. 9 from the Calhoun County Courthouse on the Pittsboro Square.
Management said they are adding to their seating capacity by as much as 20 with the addition and are also making room to add a "large buffet."
The renovation is estimated to be complete in a couple of weeks.
