Golden Crescent CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) will have volunteer training to address the urgent need for volunteer advocates in Calhoun County.
Volunteers are needed to advocate for the safety and future of the children in foster care.
Training provides volunteers the resources they need to give foster children a chance at finding happiness in a safe, permanent home.
Volunteers must be at 21 years or older and must be willing to commit to at least one year of advocacy. Volunteers must also be able to pass criminal and CPS history background checks.
Training will be June 21, 23, 28 and 30. Time and location will be announced later.
To sign up for training, call Diana Sneed at 361-573-3734 or visit www.goldencrescent.org.
CASA volunteers are everyday members of the community doing extraordinary work by choosing to speak up for abused and neglected children in their communities.
They are screened and trained, then appointed by the court to advocate for the best interests of a child or sibling group in the foster care system.
Often the CASA volunteer is the one constant in a child’s life while he or she goes through the complex and overburdened system. CASA volunteers work to move the children through foster care and into safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
