A package of drugs being shipped via mail to a residence in a nearby county was thwarted by Bruce’s K9 officer Ero last week.
corey eroOfficer Corey Alexander said Bruce Police were called to assist when a “suspicious package” was cited on a delivery truck. Alexander brought Ero to the scene and he “immediately” identified the suspicious package from the vehicle and signaled Alexander that it was some form of narcotics.
The investigation revealed the package contained three ounces of marijuana that had been vacuum-sealed twice, wrapped in paper and then stuffed inside three separate envelopes.
“It had no smell to it to us,” Alexander said. Ero was able to detect it, however.
The package, which had been shipped from Gulfport and was addressed to a neighboring county of Calhoun was turned over to Bruce Police.
More agencies have now joined in the investigation to determine the source of the package.
Alexander said this was the latest of several cases Ero has assisted on recently.
