Supervisors reappoint Clanton as board attorney for 2017

Calhoun County Supervisors unanimously agreed to rehire Sonny Clanton as board attorney at their first meeting of the new year Tuesday.
Jenny Hill was reappointed purchasing clerk for the board.
In other news, the board agreed to take necessary steps to establish fire department grading districts throughout the county to hopefully lower insurance ratings. Clanton said a public hearing will be required for the first three – Banner, Chickenbone and Sabougla. Slate Springs and Big Creek should come later.
The meeting will be Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. at the courthouse. Clanton noted these districts do not require any additional taxes.
The board approved for Eric Davis to continue the inspection of fire extinguishers throughout the county for 2017.
The board hired David Green as a full time employee in district two.
