Sonic will be returning to Calhoun City, according to Mayor J.R. Denton as reported at the monthly town board meeting last night. The drive-in restaurant will be located on property which has been acquired between the Piggly Wiggly and Fred’s.
About the well at the Industrial Park, Lee Burns reported to the aldermen that they are waiting on the pipe to be sandblasted and coated to get the project complete.
Alderman Larry Bratton noted there are 29 meters that need to be replaced saying the sooner they are changed out the better. Burns said that the meters are in and he can have them all done by the end of the month.
Mayor Denton also reported that the sewer project will be bid later this month according to information from Engineer Chodie Myers.
Renasant Bank was the lone bidder for the keeping of municipal funds for 2017-18.
Approval was given for Nick Doles and Josh Miller to continue as Park and Rec Activities Operations Director and Activities Administrator.
Included in the consent agenda approval was expenses for MML Annual Conference for aldermen, mayor and city clerk; court clerk attendance for annual clerk and MML conferences, and city clerk attendance for spring conference.
A special called meeting was held December 22, 2016 at which paperwork was signed for a ditch project.
City Clerk Raenell Moore reported that there were no qualifiers Tuesday for municipal offices.
