The Jesse Yancy Memorial Library invites everyone to “Come Together” for a special program on the influence of Rock ’n Roll on The Beatles on Monday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Square Theater.
The program, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will feature Beatles scholar Aaron Krerowicz who will present a 90-minute multi-media session on how the iconic group was impacted by such singers as Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Little Richard and Chuck Berry to name a few.
“I think it will be a fun program and very informative,” Librarian Janice Vaughn said. “I think people that grew up with that kind of music will be very interested in it, but really anybody. I know my kids know more about the Beatles than I do.”
Vaughn said she extended the invitation for Krerowicz to present the program locally after a busy year of music here in Bruce.
“It was a great year with the Blues Marker coming here and the wonderful music festival last year and another in the works for this year,” Vaughn said. “This will be something different, something interesting for our area.”
Krerowicz is a native of Indiana and the only “full-time Beatle’s scholar” in the nation. He won a research grant in 2011 to study the band and has presented his findings in programs across the country and in England the past several years. He has authored four books on the Beatles.
There is no cost to attend the program.
