Seven people were transported to the hospital with injuries following a three-car accident on Hwy. 32 east of Bruce Sunday afternoon that kept traffic blocked for nearly two hours.
According to reports from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, A west bound, gray, 2006 Acura driven by Erwin Phillips, 26, of Calhoun City, with three passengers crossed the center line and collided with the front left side of an east bound 1999 orange Ford Explorer driven by Delilar Tillman, 72, of Bruce.
The Acura then collided with the front left side of a 2001 silver Dodge Pickup driven by a 15-year-old from Big Creek with one passenger. The Explorer came to rest in the west bound lane of the highway. The pickup left the road on the south side and into the ditch. The Acura ended up in the east bound lane.
The three drivers and a 16-year-old passenger in the pickup were all transported to Baptist Hospital in Calhoun City by ambulance with non life threatening injuries. The three passengers in the Acura were also taken to the hospital, but by private vehicle, with complaints of pain.
The accident remains under investigation.
