GFWC-MFWC Twentieth Century Club of Bruce was named GFWC-MFWC District III Club of the Year at the One Hundred Second District III Convention in Booneville March 1.

The district is made up of clubs across Calhoun, Chickasaw, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tishomingo, and Webster counties.
The Twentieth Century Club of Bruce is part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. With over 80,000 members in clubs in every state, the District of Columbia, and more than a dozen countries, members work in their communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage civic involvement, and work toward world peace and understanding. The award was presented by District III President Frances Brown.
A few of the Twentieth Century Club of Bruce’s projects in 2016 included the following: assisted with Jody’s Dance Studio’s annual dance recital, sponsored the yard of the month, initiated the Colbin Necaise Memorial Butterfly Garden, sponsored a field trip for a BES classroom of students, donated two gift cards to students to promote school attendance, awarded a scholarship to the Sawmill Queen recipient, sponsored the annual Aqua Pageant, Pancakes with Santa, partnered with the Fine Arts Club of Bruce to help sponsor the spring Easter Egg Hunt and the Daddy Daughter Dance, participated in raising awareness and funds for St. Jude, made donations to Calhoun County Robotics Team, CCDHS, donated pajamas to domestic violence shelter, packed shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, hosted birthday parties at the nursing home, and sponsored a spring fling party at Calhoun Industries and numerous other donations.
