Some teachers in Calhoun County will be getting incentive pay from the state for improved test scores in 2015-2016.
Sup. Mike Moore told the school board Monday night that teachers at BES, VHS, BHS and  CCMS will receive $25,000-$38,000 to be dispersed among teachers.
Moore stressed that each school will have a committee to determine which teachers will get part of the money and how it will be divided.

"For instance, the committee could decide that only teachers for that year be eligible for the funds. And the committee can decide if certain teachers, maybe in tested areas, get more," he said.
Teachers could get from $1,000-$1,500 each. Moore stressed that neither the district nor principals can get the money or have any say in how it's dispersed.
He also said he'd like for the principals at each of those schools to get the same amount, which would have to come from other funds.

Moore said that new test scores had come in, but letter grades– A,B,C,D,F ratings– won't be in until the middle of August.
"It looks like our scores are above the state average," he said.
The board also discussed the district's handbooks moving to online, instead of print.
Moore said the handbooks will be printed for those who don't have internet.
Parental signature will be required either way, he said, saying the parents have internet and can view the handbook they received a printed copy.
Moore said the moving of the handbook online was a matter of cost savings.
"We'll revisit it if we have any problems," he said.

Moore added that the handbooks were available in Spanish also.
He also said that work was starting on re-roofing Vardaman High School. Moore said they had five bidders ranging from $225,000-$275,000 and they took the low bid.
When that project is completed, focus will go toward re-roofing the Career and Technical Center.
