The Calhoun City board approved its 2018 budget and agreed to seek grant funding for two major infrastructure projects at their meeting Thursday night.
The first grant would be for a new water well the town hopes to install north of the present well in the Industrial Park. They agreed to seek funding through Rural Development and the CDBG grant programs. The estimated cost to the city would be $70,000.
They also agreed to seek funding through NRCS or ARC for help with a sewer line stabilization project on Hurricane Creek.
Alderman Larry Bratton said he would prefer something through NRCS due to the lower cost to the town.
“I’ll work to get the best deal possible for the town,” Mayor Amye Hill said.
The budget, which does not include a tax increase, was approved without any discussion.
