Lineup set for Christmas parades in Bruce, Calhoun City, Vardaman and Big Creek

Christmas festivities begin around Calhoun County in just two weeks with the Bruce Rotary Auction.
Santa sleighThe auction will be held in the Bruce Museum on Thursday, Nov. 30 to kickoff the weekend’s festivities highlighted by the 55th Annual Bruce Lions Club Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 2.
The auction will start at 6 p.m. with a soup and chili supper available starting at 5 p.m.

The parade on Saturday will start at 4:30 p.m. and feature Jo Ann Denley as grand marshal. This year’s theme is “Mr. Frosty’s Christmas.”
There’s no cost to participate in the parade. Each float will receive expense money and several judged prizes will be awarded.
To participate call Jerry Janci at 662-412-2029 no later than Saturday, Nov. 25.

Prior to the parade, Santa will be on the Bruce Square starting at 2 p.m. to visit with children.
Calhoun City’s Christmas Parade will be that evening at 7 p.m. with Bro. Allen and Debra Dearing from Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church serving as grand marshals. This year’s theme is “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” For more information contact the Calhoun City Chamber of Commerce at 628-6990.

The Vardaman Christmas Parade will march down Main Street on Monday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. Lineup will begin at 6 p.m. behind Vardaman Methodist Church.
The fire department will be selling gumbo and taco soup on parade night.
The final parade of the season will be the annual Big Creek “Redneck” Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m.
