The Trump Administration has appointed John Rounsaville as the new State Director for USDA Rural Development in Mississippi. A native of Big Creek, Rounsaville also served in this position during the Administration of President George W. Bush.
As State Director, Rounsaville will guide Rural Development’s mission to support economic opportunity and promote quality of life in rural Mississippi.
Prior to his service in the Trump Administration, Rounsaville was Vice President for strategic services at Waggoner Engineering, Inc. in Jackson. His previous experience includes serving as policy advisor to Governor Haley Barbour and Legislative Director to former Mississippi Congressman Chip Pickering in Washington, D.C. His professional career has focused on public policy, economic development, public infrastructure, and agriculture.
USDA Rural Development provides financial resources and technical assistance to facilitate economic growth, infrastructure development, and job creation in rural communities. The agency provides assistance to support public utilities and infrastructure, healthcare and education, home ownership, and business development.
“Having been raised in a rural community, I have a direct understanding of rural needs and a genuine desire to see rural communities thrive,” said Rounsaville. “It’s an honor to serve the Trump Administration, and I’m excited to serve Mississippi as State Director.”
