SEEK students enjoyed a trip to Oxford last week to participate in a game known as the Escape Room.
The Escape Room takes the mobile app experience to the next level by allowing real people to solve real mysteries.
All students were separated into groups. They entered the completely dark room and were only allowed 60 minutes per room to solve all of the puzzles and escape.
They were also given three free hints to allow them to progress when they were stuck on a single puzzle.
They were allowed more hints, but if they used one after the first three, the allotted timer would decrease by three minutes.
There were three different rooms in the building for students to go through. Each group was able to participate in one of the three rooms.
The separate rooms also had their own unique names for the problems the students would face.
In the Pandemic room, the ultimate goal was to contain the Red Death. The Red Death is a fictional disease that will end up destroying all life on Earth if the players cannot contain it.
In the Crisis At 1600 room, the goal was to disarm missiles that have targeted the White House. The room they were in was supposed to represent the Oval Office.
The final room was The Caretaker, which is considered one of the scariest and hardest Escape Rooms in America.
In it, the players were tasked with stopping The Caretaker from dying from werewolf-like beasts that had been created by evil geneticist Dr. Vermillion.
“I have been to an Escape Room before so this is not a new experience to me, but this one had three rooms and somehow it was more unnerving just hearing the strange noises and the fact there was the message HELP US smeared almost everywhere. Anyway, I had a great time there and hope to go again,” said Ion Miller.
“I had a great experience on this trip. This was only my second escape room to ever attend and it was more fun than my first. I love escape rooms because they are fun to figure out and I love puzzles and riddles,” said Abigail Maddox.
