Calhoun City board of aldermen appointed a new member to the Park and Rec board, met two new police officers, and awarded the bid for the roof project at Little Birdie in their meeting last week.
The roofing project on the facility that is shared by the school district’s Career and Technical Center on one side and Little Birdie pillow company on the other was given the go-ahead with a $94,920 bid from Dixie Roofing per recommendation of Willis Engineering.

Newly hired policemen George Casmus and Michael Herring attended the meeting to meet with the board for the first time.
Valisha Gordon was appointed to the town’s Park and Rec Advisory board replacing Randy Skinner for a term expiring in 2021. Sam H. Phillips was reappointed for the same term.
Payment to Belinda Stewart Architects was issued for services related to the library renovation project. The town plans to replace the carpet in the library with new flooring, paint the walls, replace ceiling tiles and light fixtures. Some of those projects may not get completed in this round depending on the price of the bids received for the work.

The board approved a grant application through NRCS seeking help with Hurricane Creek.
The board purchased $3,850 worth of body cameras for the police department. The funds used were from the seized funds account.
The board rehired Watkins, Ward and Stafford for the annual audit and authorized the clerk to renew certificates of deposit with whichever bank has the best rates.
