Adrian Golden, who was captured in Arkansas Wednesday night,  has refused to sign extradition papers or to complete the booking process at the jail where he is custody.

U.S. Marshals arrested Golden  at a convenience store in Texarkana around 9 p.m. Wednesday night. Golden has been on the run since June 2017.

Golden, of Pontotoc, is wanted for attempted murder in connection with the shooting of his wife near Joe’s Market in Bruce. He fled the scene on foot.

Sheriff Greg Pollan said Golden refused to sign the paperwork in a court appearance and refused to be photographed for an official booking photo or fingerprinted.

Pollan said the next step is for DOC to get a governor's warrant to force extradition.

Pollan said marshals had been working on a lead in Pontotoc on Golden that led them to Texarkana. He won’t be immediately brought back to Mississippi.

He has a hold for Pontotoc County, a hold for Calhoun County and a hold for MDOC.

Bruce Police Chief Tony Sockwell said he jumped in the air with excitement when they called him to say Golden was in custody.

"A lot of people are a lot safer with him being caught," Chief Sockwell said. "We certainly appreciate everyone that assisted in his capture."
