To the victor belongs the spoils, seems to be the slogan of the Tigers and Tigerettes as they turned back opponent after opponent to win the Big 12 tournament at Kilmichael Friday, Feb. 7.
The Tigers defeated Water Valley 70-53 in North Zone finals held at Bruce while the Tigerettes defeated Calhoun City 56-41.
Traveling to Kilmichael Friday the Tigers trimmed Vaiden 96-85 and the Tigerettes defeated Kilmichael 46-36 in their openers, and then in the finals the Tigerettes trounced Calhoun City 51-38 while the Tigers edged Eupora 76-72.
In conjunction with winning the Big 12 championship some NCCHS personnel and students were honored.
Willie B. Flora and Carolyn Zinn received Most Valuable Player awards.
Thomas Mason was named Coach of the Year (boys) and Miss Artena Holmes received the same honor for the girls.
Thus the regular and tournament play has ended but the Tigers and Tigerettes have their eyes gleaming toward district play-offs and eventually to become state champions in their class.
