Liability insurance coverage approved by supervisors

Supervisors approved liability insurance coverage and lease purchase quotes for a new dump truck and roll-up door at their meeting last week.
There came before the Board Steven Roberts/Renasant Insurance with a proposal from MASIT for the County’s Property and Liability Insurance in the amount of $176,893.42 effective April 1, 2019 through April 1, 2020. It was unanimously approved.
The board approved memorandum of agreements between Mississippi Transportation Commission and Calhoun County for special fund known as the Emergency Road and Bridge Repair Fund created by the Legislature to replace some local bridges.
Chodie Myers with Willis Engineering was appointed as engineer for the projects.
The board also approved a resolution requesting the governor proclaim a state of emergency and the proclamation of existence of a local emergency for the recent flooding.
The board opened two leads purchase contracts for a dump truck and trailer for district five in the amount of $149,677.
The quotes were from Hancock Whitney Bank with rate of 3.84% and monthly payments of $2,745.74; and BancorpSouth with rate of 4.04% and monthly payments of $2,759.23. Hancock’s lower bid was approved.
Quotes received for extension office roof repairs included:
•KB Metal Building $1,392
•Dixie Roofing, Inc $3,475
KB’s quote was approved. KB’s quote of $1,550 for an overhead door at the county airport was also approved. The other quote was from Grenada Overhead Door LLC for $2,146.70.
Board President Barney Wade was appointed to serve a three year term as MASIT Trustee.
