The Derma Police Department has undergone a major transition with a new police chief and several new officers.

Dean Poynor
Calhoun Chief Deputy Dean Poynor has been hired as the new chief for the town replacing Stephen Faddock who resigned effective July 30. Poynor will be paid a salary of $1,000 per month and $7.25 per hour as a part-time police officer for shifts worked.
Jeremy Pounders was hired as a full-time officer. Part-time officers hired were Ezra Conner, Wayne Plunk, Bryan Roberts, Barbara Ward, and Kenneth White.
In other news, the board set the land sale for all unpaid 2018 taxes for August 26 at 8:30 a.m. in the Board Room of the Town Hall.
The Public Hearing on the 2019-2020 Budget and Proposed Tax Levy will be August 27 at 6 p.m. in the boardroom.
Adams Directional Drilling LLC of Randolph submitted a quote for directional bore. The price is $12 per foot and approximately 250 to 300 feet would be needed. This bore would be the Creek behind the home of Caffie Wilson located at 112 CR 418. The board agreed to hired Adams to bore for the water line across this creek.
Andy Cannon submitted a quote for painting the Fire Station in the amount of $1,730 which was approved by the board.
