Meet the Trojans was Friday, Aug. 16. The Trojan football team, softball team, cheerleaders, and band were all introduced.
After Meet the Trojans, the football team played the Mantachie Mustangs.
Coaching the Trojans this year are Clint Faust,Wiley Maddox, Beraiah Jackson, Dallas Hill, Luke Kiihnl and Benji Haire.
The team has eight seniors, seven juniors, 14 sophomores and six freshman.
“I hope this season would be a good season for the Trojans. My teammates and I developed a good chemistry together this summer and I hope we have a great and safe year,” said Jay Collins.
Cheer coaches are Jody Clark and Heather Stewart. They have five seniors, two juniors, seven sophomores, and two freshmen cheering this year. The junior high cheer team has five eighth graders and seven seventh graders.
“I hope it goes really well not only for the football team but for the cheerleaders. Since the football team has gotten better by learning to communicate and be a team, so has the cheer squad and I believe the cheer squad will have a good effect on everyone as a whole now that we have gotten better. As for football, I hope all the work our coaches and players have put in this summer really shows out this year. We are gonna be a good team. I know it,” said Jersey Ferguson.
Band is being run by Cody Roberts, Corey Young and Kaitlynn Yates. In band are 13 seniors, 13 juniors, 18 sophomores, 23 freshman, and 17 eighth graders.
“I believe the band has been working really hard. I hope all of the hard work pays off and we have a great year,” said Jaylin Cruthirds.
The softball team is being coached by Jordan Hall, Kristi Shelton and Kevin Hall. Playing softball are one senior, four juniors, two sophomores, five freshmen, five eighth graders, and three seventh graders.
“I hope this season goes well and that we come together as a team and accomplish the goals we have set for this season,” said Bryanna Petty.
