Bruce mayor and town board heard a complaint at their November meeting from a school bus driver about a recent incident involving someone passing while the bus’ stop sign was extended.
Bruce Police reportedly stopped the driver after the incident but only issued a warning. The bus driver noted state law requires a ticket be written. The board took the matter under advisement to allow attorney Jim Beckett to research.
In other news, the board agreed to amend their dog ordinance to allow pit bulls in town if they are certified as a “service dog.”
Jason Rusch met with the board last month to explain he owns a pit bull but it is a “service animal” for his wife who is disabled. The town has an ordinance prohibiting pit bulls inside town limits.
Attorney Beckett researched the issue and will present a revised ordinance for the board to adopt at next month’s meeting.
Other items approved by the board: Community Choir sponsorship for $100; contract with Municipal Intercept Company to collect old debt; apply for $400,000 CDBG grant; adopted real and personal tax rolls as prepared by county; set Thanksgiving holidays Nov. 28-29 and Christmas Dec. 25-26.
