The Oxford chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International recently donated over 85 books to the after school program in Vardaman.
Delta Kappa Gamma is a society of key women educators with members in seventeen countries. Beta Beta, the local chapter in Oxford, serves Calhoun, Lafayette, Yalobusha and Panola counties.
Past chapter President and current chapter Secretary Kim Gregory visited with Catholic Charities Director Danna Johnson at the after school program and brought books for the children donated by Beta Beta chapter member Virge Cornelius.
“One of our goals as a chapter is to reach out and support teachers and students in the counties we serve,” Gregory said. “We are looking for key women educators in Calhoun County to join with us.”

Currently, Gregory is the only Beta Beta member from Calhoun County.
“I know we have some incredibly dedicated and talented teachers here and I would love to see them join DKG,” Gregory said.
The Beta Beta chapter meets five times annually and due to COVID, they are meeting by Zoom for the rest of 2020.

“Hopefully we can resume in-person meetings next year, but for right now we are meeting virtually. Since teachers are so used to using Zoom or Google classroom, it’s a great time to just tune in via your computer or phone and see what Delta Kappa Gamma is all about,” Gregory said.
