Herrod resigns in Derma; town taking applications

The Town of Derma is accepting applications for an employee for Town Hall following the resignation of Shirley Herrod.


Herrod, who served the town for 16 years as an office assistant, resigned recently due to health concerns.
“We appreciate Shirley’s 16 years of wonderful service to our town,” Clerk Deneen James said. “She has been a great asset to Derma Town Hall and will be greatly missed. We wish her all the best going forward.”

Items approved by the board at their October meeting included:
•Minutes from last month’s meeting.
•MML Municipal Compliance Questionnaire.
•Transferred money to pay yearly note on water well.
•Authorized Clerk Deneen James to attend election training Dec. 9-11 in Jackson. Qualifying for municipal positions begins Jan. 1 with primary elections next April and the general in June.
•Hired Ronnie Windham as public works employee.
