Marissa Pettigout and Kodie O’Bannon say they are happy with the way the band’s marching season.
From the beginning, Pettigout was skeptical.
“I thought we weren’t going to accomplish much since we got such a late start. We didn’t get our show until much later,” she saidt.
Band competitions were also canceled for the duration of the 2020 season.

When asked if she was upset by this decision, Pettigout said, “Yes and no because I got free Saturdays, but I didn’t get the experience most seniors do.”
When the marching show theme was decided, O’Bannon was excited.
“It was a cool concept because they wanted to bring happiness to people in the midst of COVID-19.”

The band worked hard for the outcome, and by the end of the marching season, Pettigout was happy with the end result.
“It was a great way to end the marching season for my senior year,” she said.
Although there were a lot of setbacks with the marching band this year, Pettigout says they can use this year as an opportunity for learning and growth.
“The band directors helped us tremendously; we couldn’t have done it without them,” said O’Bannon. She is excited for the band’s concert season and hopeful for the future.
