The bulk of damage from last night’s severe weather appears to be downed trees.

All Calhoun County Fire Departments were called out during the night to remove trees that fell across roads as a result of the strong thunderstorm containing high winds that blew through the county around 3 a.m.

The county was briefly under a tornado warning when the National Weather Service indicated “rotation” west of Sarepta, but a tornado was never spotted.

There were two reports of power lines taken down from fallen trees – one on the “Pumping Station Road” and another on CR 149.

All of the trees were cleared from the roadways by sunrise. There was one traffic accident on Hwy. 9 near Academy Road where a truck ran into a fallen tree.

The reports of downed trees included:

Hwy. 8 near Derma
Hwy. 9 near the 9-9W intersection
Hwy. 9 near Sarepta
Hwy. 9 near Academy Road
CR 275-A in Banner
CR 233 in Bruce
CR 406 in front of Pine Hills Country Club
CR 130 north of Bruce
CR 314 in Big Creek
CR 149 north of Bruce
