The City of Bruce is conducting surveys of local residences with hopes of landing a grant of up to $600,000 to assist with the planned sewerage improvement project.
“It is very important that we get a high response rate for this survey in order to be eligible for the grant funds,” Mayor
Rudy Pope said. “The surveyors will come to your house and ask about your household, including income and number of people in the home. This information will be kept confidential for use by grant application preparers and state grant managers only.”
Pope said local volunteers will be going around collecting the data and the survey will only take a few minutes to complete.
The city has already borrowed $1.2 million for the sewer improvements to begin later this spring.
“If we could get this grant it would really a be big plus for us,” Pope said. “If we were able to eliminate $600,000 out of that $1.2 we are borrowing that could free us up to purchase a new fire truck or address other needs.”
