The Pittsboro board of aldermen approved a new addition to the fire department and agreed to opt out of the state building codes law at a brief meeting this week.
The new 2,350 gallon tank was purchased for $3,488 and will be installed on the recently acquired tanker truck for the fire department. The truck was an Army surplus vehicle bought for $100.
“They’ve really fixed it up. It looks nice,” Mayor Reda Bullard said.
The board also agreed to opt out of the new building codes law as approved by the Legislature last year in SB 2378, citing no ability to enforce such regulations.
