A traffic stop in Calhoun City Friday led to the arrest of two and what Sheriff Greg Pollan said is the largest piece of “ice” he has seen in Calhoun County.

Tori Kitchens, 18, and Vintrell Bobo, 20, both of Calhoun City, were arrested by Calhoun Deputy Juston Robertson after running a stop sign.
In addition to the large piece of “ice”, Robertson found three smaller bags and some loose rocks.

Kitchens was charged with possession of marijuana with intent and possession of controlled substance with intent. She is still in custody. Bobo was charged with possession of controlled substance with intent, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, possession of beer, running a stop sign and no driver’s license. He was released Monday.
Sheriff Pollan estimated the street value of the drugs to be around $2,500.

In another matter, an Indianola man was arrested Thursday in connection with the theft of checks from a local business.
Derrick Calvert, 38, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Indianola. He was transported to Calhoun Friday where he was charged with six counts of uttering forgery and burglary of a commercial building.

Sheriff Pollan said the checks were taken from Bruce Sweet Potato in May. Calvert was driving a truck picking up loads from the facility. More than $10,000 in bad checks were written on the account.

Pollan said they had been looking for Calvert for a couple of weeks and asked marshals to assist.
Pollan said Calvert faces similar charges in Sunflower County and is also under indictment for statutory rape and sexual battery.
