The Pittsboro mayor and board of aldermen met briefly Tuesday afternoon to approve the official ballot for the Dec. 2 alcohol election and to make certain all other requirements had been met.

Attorney Ben Suber said he had verified all requirements with the state so the election can be held Dec. 2 as planned.
The board approved the official ballot that has a place to vote “for” or “against” whether to legalize the sale of light wine of an alcoholic content of 5% or less and beer with an alcoholic content not more than 8%.

The ballot also has a separate vote on legalizing the sale of liquor.
Suber said absentee voting can begin 30 days prior to the election and those ballots needed to be printed on a different color paper from the regular election day ballot.
The only other business revolved around finalizing election commissioners to work the election.
