The Grenada County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a weekend shooting at a Gore Springs night club that left one man seriously injured and a suspect behind bars.
According to Grenada County Sheriff Alton Strider, deputies responded to a call of a shooting Monday around 2 a.m. at the Tin Top club on Highway 8 East near the Calhoun County line.
Strider identified the victim as LaTaurus Sykes, 27, of Calhoun County, and said he was shot in the chest area.
Strider identified the suspect as Tyrin Parker, a 20 year-old also of Calhoun County, who faces aggravated assault charges.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Sykes shot in the right side of his chest.
Sykes’ condition was listed as stable, according to Strider, and he was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
According to Strider, Parker turned himself in to authorities Tuesday afternoon and is currently out on a $25,000 bond.
