Trump, who spoke Monday at Madison Central High School and has been the leader nationally for months in the Republican Presidential Primary, carried Calhoun with 55% of the vote.

Sen. Ted Cruz, of Texas, his closest competitor in the national race, finished second in Calhoun County.
Gov. John Kasich, of Ohio, and Sen. Marco Rubio, of Florida, the other Republican candidates still running nationally, finished third and fourth respectively Tuesday in Calhoun.

Hillary Clinton won the Democratic Primary over Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Clinton collected 85% of the Democratic vote in the county compared to Sanders' 13%.
In the only local race, U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly defeated Paul Clever, of Olive Branch, in the Republican Primary with 95% of the Calhoun vote. Kelly also won district-wide with 90% of the vote.

Kelly will next face Democrat Jacob Aaron Owens, of Booneville, in the general election on Nov. 8.
Other local races on the general election ballot will be the district two special election for supervisor, which currently has five qualifiers. The district five school board special election will also be on the ballot. Qualifying for that race won't begin until August. Don Hardin is currently serving in that role as an interim following the resignation of Whit Casey.

Other races in November will include election commissioners, Mississippi Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
