Calhoun County Supervisors opened bids for a large culvert project on CR 471, for a new backhoe and agreed to advertise to reseal CR 314 Monday morning in Pittsboro.
Ausbern Construction submitted the low bid for the CR 471 project at $267,420, which was just below the engineer’s estimate of $267,480.
Other bids received were Endevco Inc. $315,901; Double “S” Inc. $307,036; J.J. Ferguson $349,573; and Parsons Earthworks $309,975.
The board opened two bids for a new backhoe – Hood Equipment $76,153 and Briggs $76,181.
All bids were taken under advisement.

•Agreed to advertise project for reseal and striping on CR 314. County Engineer Chodie Myers said this was federal money applied for over a year ago that was just awarded.
•Reappointed Barney Wade to Mississippi Partnership Board of local chief elected officials.
•Sheriff Greg Pollan said neither of his bids for the county jail roof repair worked out, so he is looking to acquire more quotes. His low bidder couldn’t produce the required insurance and the alternate is now committed to another job.
•Approved travel for Veterans Officer Robert Gosa to attend training seminar in Columbus and Chancery Clerk Romona Tillman and Wendy Hill to attend Youth Court training in Oxford.
•Approved school bus turnaround at 708 Hwy. 341.
•Approved BancorpSouth lease purchase contract for 2016 Mack truck for district three and an advertisement to sell a backhoe.
•Declared 1993 GMC Truck for district two as surplus property.
•Emily Whitaker with Liberty National asked to schedule meetings with county employees regarding life, cancer and other insurance policies. Board agreed to schedule that for Wednesday afternoon.
