The Pittsboro board began making plans to spend the $5,000 tobacco-free grant money it should soon receive.
Clerk Amy White confirmed the town hadn’t received the funds as of Tuesday.
“Can we use that for anything we want?” Alderman Fred Bullard asked.
“Anything but landscaping,” Alderwoman Cindy Hubbard said.
“How about new playground equipment?” Bullard asked.
The board agreed that was a possibility. They have instructed Charles Mahan to take down the old dilapidated playground equipment on the old school property.
The board continued to express frustration about misuse of the town dumpsters.
Bullard said they are still getting a lot of items that shouldn’t be dropped there such as furniture, tires, appliances and more.
Mayor Reda Bullard and Alderman Jimmy Franklin were absent from the meeting.
