A man living in Vardaman has been charged with the rape of his daughter.
Jose Antonio Maldonado, 47, was arrested Thursday night just outside of Bruce.
Sheriff Greg Pollan said that Maldonado’s 22 year old daughter had contacted them that afternoon and reported that he had raped her. She told them in the investigation t
hat it had happened multiple times in Mississippi and Florida and that he was the father of her 8-month-old child.
Maldonado, who has a Florida address, was charged with rape with intent to ravish and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle.
Maldonado is in the Calhoun County Jail where his bond has been set at $100,000. Pollan said they will be working the case with Florida law enforcement.
