The Calhoun City Chamber discussed a potential name change for the annual arts and crafts festival and planned for upcoming Christmas events during Tuesday’s meeting.
Chamber President Laura Edwards said the chamber desires a theme to the annual arts and crafts festival held Memorial Day weekend to allow for better marketing opportunities.
She said initial surveys of chamber members suggested a potential name that would relate to the ‘City Square.
“We welcome input from everyone,” Edwards said.
She said they are also considering expanding the festival to Friday night with a concert.
Plans continue to come together for the “Candy Canes and Christmas Carols event set for Dec. 9.
The festivities will include a Christmas Bazaar at the Methodist Corner beginning at 4 p.m. and a spaghetti supper leading up the Christmas parade at 6 p.m.

Successful venture with theater improvement. Looking at a painting next year to be added to reflect what the theater is.
Edwards said the chamber has received a positive response to its beautification efforts on the square involving the installation of new fronts on the dilapidated buildings.
The only one done thus far is the old theater building on the east side of the square. The chamber’s beautification committee shared the cost with the property owner.
She said they are looking at painting a scene reflective of the old theater on the covering some time next year. Edwards said the committee is working with other property owners to try and make similar improvements.
The Chamber now has new Calhoun City t-shirts on sale for $15.
