Vardaman Board of Aldermen sold the fire and police department buildings at the meeting of the board last night in preparation for the town’s move to their municipal complex on Main St.
The board accepted the bid of Billy Parker for the purchase of the police department building for $27,777.
They also accepted the bid of Dennis “Trey” Boyette for $37,502 for the purchase of the fire department building.
No bids were received on the city hall building, but Mayor James Casey said they had some interest in it.
Also at the meeting the board approved applying for a renovation grant for municipal complex.
In another matter, Jay Vanlandingham, of Vardaman, reported that Vardaman had been accepted into the Youth Tackle Football League and now they just need kids to sign up.
Clerk Barbara Tedder said 45 are needed and only 11 have signed up.
Vanlandingham said he is confident the three teams will make.
“They will scraggle in as it gets close to school time,” he said. “We are going to pull kids from Bruce and Houston.”
The first game will be the end of August.
The board voted to go ahead and buy insurance for the teams and the fee to join the league- American Youth Football.
In another matter they agreed to advertise delinquent taxes and to remove some unused equipment from the inventory list.
Aldermen Jeff Clements was not at the meeting.
