Calhoun Board of Education is expected to discuss the Mississippi School Board Association’s Legislative Survey and the approval of the school district’s amended budget at its meeting this Thursday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.
In another matter, the board is expected to approve a quote for workers’ compensation from the Mississippi School Board Association for $84,456.
Other highlights from the agenda:
•Agreement with Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid
•Approval to use Chad Bryant as an independent contractor for NATEF.
•Approval of Commitment to Child Nutrition Statewide Purchasing Program
•Approval of the school district’s wellness policy and each individual school’s policy
•Approval of bid protest procedure and policy and consolidated federal programs application
•Approval for BHS Librarian Beth Palmer to apply for a Donors Choose grant and a Lowe’s grant
•Approval of IDEA Part B and preschool application
•Approval to add two Chromebooks and a Smartboard to Bruce Upper Elementary School inventory
In personnel action, the board is expected to:
•Approve VHS’s coaching supplements.
•Ratify the action of the superintendent for the employment of Shirley McFarland as teacher
•Approve Barbara Jo Howell’s retirement
•Approve resignation of Bobbie Rayburn as color guard instructor and recommend Corey Young as replacement
•Approve Ruby Jackson as substitute teacher
•Approve Josh Gordon’s resignation as bus shop mechanic
•Approve April Gordon’s resignation as bus driver
•Approve substitute bus drivers Jordan Hall and James Dallas Hill.
Also on the agenda is an in-district transfer for Macayveun Campbell from Vardaman High School to Calhoun City Middle School.
The October board meeting will change to Monday, Oct. 30 at the school district’s administrative office.
