Bruce Christmas events this week – auction, pancakes, parade, movie, tour of homes

A flurry of Christmas activities are planned around Bruce for this weekend starting with the Bruce Rotary Auction Thursday night.

The auction will be held in the Bruce Museum at 6 p.m. with a soup and chili supper available starting at 5 p.m.
Among the items to be auctioned include lumber from Weyerhaeuser, furniture, toys and lots of goods and services donated from area businesses.
Saturday will be extra busy in Bruce starting with the annual Pancakes with Santa event in the Bruce Museum.

The event, sponsored by the 20th Century Club, will open at 8 a.m. Admission is $10 for one parent and child with each additional child only $3.
That afternoon, Santa will be on the Bruce Square at 2 p.m. to visit with children at no cost. He will leave the square promptly at 3:30 p.m. to go board his float for the Christmas parade.

Jo Ann Denley will serve as grand marshal of the 56th annual Lions Club Christmas Parade in Bruce Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The parade will take its normal route from the school down Hwy. 32 and around the square.
The parade will feature a number of big trucks, including the new Bruce Fire Engine; marching bands; Calhoun County Prancers Dance Group; Harley Davidsons; eight floats, approximately 18 classic cars; several unique tractors and more.

After the parade, the Bruce Arts Council is showing the movie “Miracle on 34th Street” at the Square Theatre at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is free and popcorn, drinks, and hot chocolate will be available from the concession stand.

The Fine Arts Club of Bruce will host the Christmas Tour of Homes Sunday from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
The tour will start at Bruce United Methodist Church where tickets will be available for $8 and a map to each of the homes. Refreshments will also be served.

Houses on this year’s tour include Dallas and Ginger Gore, Michael Herrod, Brad and Melissa Logan, and Jock and Noel Tunnell.
