Weeks and Golliday then nominated each other for vice president. Fleming seconded Golliday’s motion for Weeks, who again declined to accept the position.
“I can’t take anything because I’m going to be off in a month or so,” Precious Thompson pointed out.
She is in the process of moving into another district which will force her resignation from the school board.
Golliday then nominated former president Don Hardin as vice president and he requested his name be removed.

“That don’t leave nobody,” Golliday said.
“We’re going to run out of people if y’all don’t take something,” Thompson said.
Fleming then seconded Weeks’ motion for Golliday to be vice president, and it was approved. Hardin then agreed to be board secretary.
Paul Moore, Jr. was then re-appointed as board attorney for 2018.

The board also agreed to forgive three of the five snow days for the current school year as allowed by the state. Two of the days will still be made up by students on Feb. 19 and April 2, which were previously scheduled to be holidays for students.

Other items approved by the board:
•Expulsion of BUES student for remainder of school year.

She spoke on the math teacher shortage at VHS saying a math teacher resigned in the fall. Drew Smiley at CCHS and Deanna Winter at VHS have picked up the additional classes to serve all the students.
She also congratulated Coach Winter for earning her 150th career win with the Lady Rams recently.

She also noted they received first state test results from the fall, and teachers Meg Maddox at CCHS and John Massey at BHS had 100 percent passing among first-time test takers.
