The Calhoun County School Board continued discussion on the current applicants for the superintendent’s job at a special called meeting Monday night.
Board President Will Fleming confirmed the board met in “executive session,” which excludes the public from sitting in, and made “progress.”

“We’re looking at taking action at our regular monthly meeting Monday (Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.),” Fleming said. “We’re slowly moving forward. We don’t want to make a hasty decision.”
The board voted 3-2 in January to limit applicants for the position to current school district employees. Based on criteria set by the state for the position, that limited the pool of applicants to Calhoun City Elementary Principal Dr. Lisa Langford, Vardaman Elementary Principal DeDee Lee, and Calhoun City teacher and asst. football coach Chad White, who previously served as a principal in Desoto County. All three have confirmed they have applied.
Monday was the second special called meeting by the board to discuss the applicants, but no official action has been taken in either.
